Speech on Kindness

Kindness is that virtue that is most practiced yet it needs instilling in all of us. There is still scope for learning more. There is still more need as the needy have not yet reduced to zero. So the need to teach children to be kind is still not over. In fact the elders and grown up kids do need to lean to be compassionate. So here we present some speeches so you can use it on any occasion that provides an opportunity to the speaker to present his or her thoughts and share them with an audience so they are forced to think about the importance of being kind. Some of the speeches are short and can be used by students and some are long and touch upon the deeper meaning of being kind. Such speeches can be used by teachers, officers or elders. You can use them as they are or add your own thoughts to customize it to fit the occasion.

Ling and Short Speech on Kindness

Speech on Kindness – 1

“Let me help you. Can I help you with your load aunt? Why don’t we go together? It will save you some effort & money. Hey! You fell down from the swing. Come I will press your knee. Oh my God! You dropped your lunch box. I can share my tiffin. Mommy packed some extra sandwiches.”

These are some statements we commonly hear, and must have said these sometime too. These are some very common and usual ways of helping others. We all are kind to the core and it is something that we learn by the way of seeing and practicing. We often learn such good values at home. Our elders are the source of this virtue and is a vessel overflowing with love, empathy, patience and humility. All these qualities are the indicators of this virtue called kindness.

It is after all kindness that is making this world worth a living place. Imagine a world without kindness and you will realize that it is a place no better than hell. Think if you were in trouble and in this need of the hour you had no one whom you could look up to, and you feel stalled, all alone, how would you feel? What would you do? What if even your sister won’t be kind to you? How about your own mother and father? What if they forgot all about being kind and helpful? This is a dreadful thought I must say. It sends shivers down my spine, even at the thought of it. Unfathomable, isn’t it?

So next time we see someone in trouble, we must think of it as an opportunity to serve others. An opportunity to make this world a humane and livable place. We will not be kind to others because it is our duty, but because we want others to be as kind as we are to them. We need a similar reaction from them, don’t we? We must behave with others as we want them to behave with us. Sensible words said by wise Lao Tzu “kindness in words creates confidence, kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love”.

Being kind does not involve a lot of effort, money or our time. It just requires a positive attitude. Positive in this case defies all the principles of attraction. Because positive attitude attracts more positive, unlike any other situation where opposites are said to attract and similar things repel. If we have a positive attitude towards life, we are of the thought that things will work out. And we have the power to turn every situation around in our stride. This belief is enough to help us gain confidence that we can help others come out of their distress. A belief is a temporary situation that they are in. Nothing in this life is permanent, except death. Where there is happiness, there must be sadness too. Similarly if there is a difficult situation one is facing, then there must be some way that they can be pulled out of it. We may be the catalyst, and help them win. That is what kindness is all about, being aware of this fact that we are but a means, if we are willing.

The importance of being willful to help is kindness. The sooner we realize this the better it is. I am saying this because in today’s world people have become too busy and engrossed in their own world. Whether they are grownups or they are kids or youngsters, we are all busy with our schedules, affairs or simply the gadgets we have surrounded ourselves with. We rarely get up and see if there is someone who needs help. We seldom see if the maid in the house or a helper in the office has a grim expression on his or her face, and requires help, may be a good word for their son for a job, or may be a temporary loan because someone is sick in the family. We need to be more connected to the real world and receptive. Only if you connect you will be able to sense the troubles others are in and you could help and make their situation better. I would give rest to my words by these beautiful words said by the most beautiful soul Princess Diana – “Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”

Speech on Kindness – 2

Good Morning to all my dear friends and colleagues! I am called here today to address you and share with you my thoughts on a very important quality “Kindness”. And it is the inherent nature of every human to be kind. We all need no proof of this fact. Look deep down inside your heart and you will know. Most of us humans are kindhearted, empathizing people.

But in this world of today, this is one quality that seems to be missing in this world that lacks time and has speed in abundance. Life has become a race which must be won at any cost. No one wants to be on the second position. Thus it makes it a place where a cut-throat competition is the way of world. And survival of the fittest theory still holds good! Whether in the school, or at your office, you are taught to compete, so who has the time to be kind? Where is the need to be kind? Where is the place to show your kindness?

I have talked about the cities and living in it the educational and societal advantaged sect of people. If we talk about the ones in the villages, and disadvantaged lot, there the life is toughest. There the people have to fight of every inch of space, and every grain of food. To them kindness is next to impossible. And to some the only way to put up with the difficulties of life is to be harsh and unkind and shrewd to others. Their way to take revenge, an eye for an eye! Pick up the newspaper and you will know that I make sense and my statement is supported.

So many incidences are reported that show ugly ferocious animals left on lose, some kill for money and some for their personal pleasure. However hard we try and ignore, but they stand firm right in front of us staring at our faces. You start your morning with your tea and the morning newspaper. But not anymore! Tea yes, but somehow your feet freeze when you move towards the door to pick up the newspaper. But then you are always hopeful, always positive. That is the principle on which the theory of evolution is also probably based on. End of one may be the beginning of a new one. I am always reminded of this very famous song from an old classic movie, “Up from the ashes grow the roses of success” It teaches us to be optimistic and never stop trying.

Where there are such atrocities on an all time high, the people performing good deeds are on a rise too! The spiritual gurus, yoga and meditation centers, free food distribution, collection of funds and essentials at the time of crisis is increasing manifolds too. The self driven, self-motivated wonderful people who show that there is still hope for the world to become a better place are there everywhere. Internet is the biggest example of all the goodness that is there around. For every information we need, we are just a click away. Even for things like, details of composition of medicines, its salts are readily available on our fingertips. The phones we just cannot imagine our life without now, is a mini computer, we use it every now and then , not for calling alone, but for receiving and sending messages too, messages that are passed a million times in a day, sometimes helping to find a lost child, or a blood donation required for a rare blood group. And there are just too many people out there who are ready with their act of kindness.

So I am right here to tell you how important each one’s actions are. We must keep doing good and always seek the opportunity and be kind. Each drop adds to the ocean. And each effort counts! The scenario of today when everyone is busy within one’s schedule, it takes not much time and thought to be helpful and kind. It is this inherent, in-built quality that helps us to effortlessly take out time to help others. The world goes on because there is hope. If we look around us, we will find ample opportunities to help people around, from being kind to people in your office to someone sitting next to you in a bus or Metro.

A very interesting incidence took place with me. One day when I was travelling in a Metro with my children. An old gentleman sitting right next to me indulged in conversation with my little daughter and went ahead and taught her a few exercises for her eyes for she had a very high myopic number. Before getting off the Metro I thanked him and he said, “Pay it forward, do not thank me.” I asked him what he meant. He said, “When you meet someone who needs help, do not hesitate, and think of it as a repayment of gratitude towards this simple act. And then ask them to do the same. Soon this world will become a better place to live. It is a series of good deeds that will be spread everywhere.” In my heart I thanked him again, this time for an invaluable lesson I had learnt. It was the ease with which one could be kind and generate more kindness.

I give my voice a break and leave you with this thought “Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” These very beautiful words are by Desmond Tutu, the first black South African Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa awarded with Nobel Peace Prize.

Thank you

Speech on Kindness – 3

Kindness, it is that one quality that puts us apart from other mammals, it makes us human. Good morning to one and all! Today’s topic of our morning assembly is kindness and kind, we all are, in our own special way. There are some basic qualities that are intertwined in the fabric of our life, without them we just cannot imagine ourselves to be.

We see a child crying in the park, maybe he just fell down from a swing. Our first reaction is to quickly go up to him or her and help. A helper in our house has got a problem; we instantly help her with whatever it takes. On the road we help people who are complete strangers. If there is an accident or someone falls down, we see a whole lot of people rushing to help. If this is not kindness what is? We are naturalists at it. No one needs to teach us to be kind.

Being kind is a simple act of doing well unto others, and the person who benefits most from it, is the person who helps. It is an amazing feeling to be kind and gives the doer a sense of satisfaction. I am reminded of this very famous saying by Henry James – Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”

The people in need of kindness are the ones who are in great distress, and usually have nowhere to look to. They probably do not have any support and lack the backup that only the near & dear ones can provide. This person may be someone who has just gotten transferred to a radically different linguistic state that he does not understand or may be a tourist who has lost his way, or it just may be your driver or a colleague. Anyone who needs help is your source for your outlet of your goodness they deserve. Never think twice before you shower your kindness on such who need your attention, care and love. It is after all one small well-connected world and we all are brothers.

We are bound by this invisible thread of oneness. Sometimes it does not even take a minute to connect to the person sitting right next to you in a Metro train that you take every day to work. A person you have never met before and you get discussing about each other. And may be you need some help and the other person readily furnishes. So this time you may be the one at the receiving end. Yes and there is no harm to be there. For not all days are the same for everyone. Some days are bright and sunny and other days may be cloudy! Important thing to learn is that if the day comes to an end with the moon in the sky, so will the night when there is sunrise again.

One act of kindness helps to go through the toughest of the tough times. It tells the person that you are not alone. There is someone who can share with you your problems or load, even though for a small while or magnitude. That little act of kindness will go a far way and pull the person through towards better times yet again.

Hope our each day is filled with positivity and each day we remember to be kind.

“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Says the very wise Mark Twain.

Thank you.

Speech on Kindness – 4

Good Morning everybody,

I am XYZ from class XX and today we are all here to talk about our most valued personality trait. And I have chosen to tell you about being kind. According to Mark Twain “Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”

“Guard well within yourself that treasure, kindness. Know how to give without hesitation, how to lose without regret, how to acquire without meanness.” says George Sand, a French novelist and memoirist.

All these wonderful successful people have left a legacy for us to follow, that to with great pride. Whatever may be happening around you, however difficult the times are or a situation may be, what you do and what you give to make it better, makes all the difference.

Kindness is the quality that each one of us must cherish and allow to flourish within us. Let it nurture, so we can make each soul we touch upon, a happy soul. By simply sharing, giving to others unconditionally is a way to be kind and generous. It is one quality that is possessed by big-hearted people only. It takes a lot of courage and a lot of patience to be kind to people, especially to the ones who are themselves unkind and care too little for others’ happiness.

Kind people are usually those for whom the decisions are to be taken, not just materialistically. For them the humanity comes first. Their objectives are clear and inclusive. Kind souls are humble, thankful and full of love and care. Presence of such people makes others compassionate and caring. They lead by example and usually are trendsetters, for they are courageous and motivated enough to do good without any external poking or reminding. They look for opportunity to serve and help. To be around such people is always a blessing, as there is a lot to learn from them. There is always a beginning. If I haven’t bothered myself with feeling empathy for others, and trying to do some good, it certainly does not mean that I am not capable. I can always change, if for good! And it usually takes a paradigm shift from being carefree & indifferent to being loving, caring and kind. A new mindset altogether! So people all I am saying is that if I want to live in a better world then I have to work towards it. I cannot sit around thinking, someone else is doing well, and I don’t need to.

This reminds me of a famous Akbar-Birbal story, in which a minister suggests to his Emperor Akbar, testing all the employees of the palace, as to who is honest and who is not. Birbal suggests a way. He gets the palace garden pond emptied and asks Akbar to command each one to bring a jug full of milk and pour it in the pond at night. It will bring good omen to the kingdom. And then when it was checked in the morning, the pond was filled with water. In the court, when asked; the ministers, with faces pulled down in shame; admit to the guilt that they thought, “What would it matter if I won’t pour milk rest everyone else will, so no one will know.” That is what happens with us in our life too. We think someone else will be kind, I can skip. And this has led to a world full of misery and want. Be kind; don’t wait for another to do so.

In beautiful words from John Joseph Powell –

“It is an absolute human certainty that no one can know his own beauty or perceive a sense of his own worth until it has been reflected back to him in the mirror of another loving, caring human being.”

Thank you & have a nice day!

Being a literature person, I am extremely passionate about reading and pouring down my thoughts on papers. So what better than adopting writing itself as a profession?
