Long and Short Speech on laughter is the best medicine

Laughter is the Best Medicine Speech – 1

Hello Everyone! I warmly welcome you all to today’s special laughter therapy session.

But before we request our mentor to begin with the session, please allow me to deliver a speech on Laughter is the best medicine. This proverb is so true and we all know that laughter offers us the best way to recover from any illness. Here, medicine implies a medium to get cured or something that can give us a feel good factor. It could also provide remedy to one’s physical illness or may be one’s disturbed psychological condition.

Of course, if you are suffering from any serious medical condition, then prescription given by the doctor should be religiously followed, but having said that even scientists have come out in support of this proverb. They have proven that laughter, smile and positive attitude can aid in the process of recovery. And, if you are suffering from a minor illness or feeling depressed then a dose of laughter can do wonders for you and make you feel good.

Why laughter is taken as the best medicine, let’s understand –

  • Helps forget peer pressure: Laughing heart out or cracking jokes can put our mind to rest, at least momentarily.
  • Acts as a traditional therapy: Studies have revealed that treatment becomes more effective when we smile often.
  • A physical response: The physical act of laughter helps relax our body.
  • Positivity: When you laugh or smile, a positive attitude uplifts your soul and revitalizes your whole body. Moreover, it also helps you spread positivity around.

To what extent laughter acts as the best medicine differs from person to person, but it can safely be said that doses of laughter help medicine work more effectively. In many cases, nothing but a smile can cure us. So it is very important for all of us to enjoy life in whatever way it unfolds and try to make the best of every situation. There will always be pressing situations, but it entirely depends on us how we handle it. Either we can choose to become depressed and bow down in front of situations; or else we can smile with dignity and battle the tough situations boldly.

A good, hearty laughter can help relieve your stress as well as physical tension, thereby relaxing your muscles for a significant period. A study has also shown that laughter also brings down the level of stress hormones and boosts immune cells as well as antibodies that fight with infection, thereby improving the resistance power of your body against diseases.

Laughter revives your spirit and helps you feel good. I am sure each one of you gets a good feeling after sessions of laughter. It helps you stay positive even during tough times and it also makes you even more beautiful in the eyes of your beholder.

Thus laughter is called as the best medicine because it’s the best way to handle difficult times and yet feel good about oneself.  Laughter also helps people come together. Humor or laughter should therefore form a part of our daily interactions because it not only gives you a healthy mind and body, but also improves the relationship with people around. This is all I have to say.

Thank You!

Laughter is the Best Medicine Speech – 2

Good Morning Students – How are you all doing?

Considering the mounting tension because of your approaching exams, I as your class teacher wish to tell you that it’s important to stay calm and laugh your heart out sometime in order to combat your anxiety and stress level. Tell me, when did you have a roaring laughter last time? May be hard to remember, right! It’s because these times have become so demanding both physically and mentally that we have forgotten to smile perhaps. When we get up early in the morning, we have tasks in our list to attempt, but we forget that very important task which makes up our whole being and fills it with energy and vigor is laughter.

Therefore, it is rightly said that laughter is the best medicine. Medicine here doesn’t literally mean medicine, but something which carries medicinal properties. We take medicines to heal our bodily ailments and recover from that state; this is what laughter does to us. It helps ease our stress level and aid in the speedy recovery of our health. Laughter acts as a powerful antidote to combat pain and stress. Laughter is magical in itself and works much faster in order to bring our body and mind back to a balanced state. Humor relaxes our brain, stirs hope and helps us stay focused and connected with others.

And the best part is that it doesn’t require any investment or much effort from our side. Having so much power to cure and regenerate one’s soul; the capability to laugh easily often prove to be of tremendous help for overcoming problems, improving our equation with others as well as overall emotional and physical state of being. Laughter aids in improving the function of your blood vessels and boosts the flow of blood in your body, which in turn helps in protecting you against heart diseases as well as other cardiovascular diseases.

The best part is that laughter is contagious. So if that laughter is shared with the people around, its doses get multiplied. Thus, you are in a better position to build long-lasting relationships. Any sort of emotional sharing builds healthy and strong bonds and also multiples our joy as well as vitality.

Haven’t you heard of the statement given by Charlie Chaplin, “a day without laughter is a day wasted”? Laughter is believed to bring down the level of stress and even pain, enhance the resistance of our body to fight against diseases, augment our blood flow and improve the function of blood vessels, which in turn provides us protection against cardiovascular problems as well as various heart diseases. Believe it or not, laughter can even help us burn down our calories.

Therefore with so much to gain from laughter, you all should adopt this therapy and experience the wonders that unfold. You all should take it easy and prepare for your exams with a calm and relax mind and everything will fall into place. And of course, never forget to laugh heartily!

Laughter is the Best Medicine Speech – 3

Dear Friends – Warm Greetings to all of you!

I welcome everyone to this speech ceremony and the topic for today is ‘Laughter is the Best Medicine’. This proverb is irrefutable because when we laugh our heart out we forget every sorrow for some time at least and feel delightful. The ability to smile or laugh is God gifted and trust me it’s contagious. I am sure none likes to see a sad or a drooping face. A happy face is what everyone adores and roars of laughter electrify the whole environment.

If you want to observe laughter in its best form, observe children who when play or perform any activity that they love are full with roaring laughter. The soul gets lifted when we behold children playing and laughing amongst themselves. Such moments teem with a great sense of bliss and sheer joy. The laughter of the children is the most beautiful things in this world and heavenly too. And seeing those sparkling faces of children, the hearts of the elders start booming with delight and when you laugh you can actually feel the beauty of the world around and realize that good things happen too.

Also laughter is the easiest and best way to forge bonds. It helps family and friends to come together and strengthen their relationship. It also increases the intimacy and trust amongst the people because laughter is a clear reflection of joy within one’s heart. Anxiety, sadness, loneliness and depression are all the negative facets in a human being and none wants to live with such feelings, but when these feelings dominate laughter cannot prevail. So it is very important to not let these feelings prevail and overwhelm. So laugh out the anxiety because it is the best therapy for everything. Laughter can help alleviate stress and give you a gift of health in many ways possible. Whereas the giggling laughter of the babies as well as old people remains unsurpassed, the laughter that comes straight from the heart acts as a great stress buster.

But one thing is that God gives joy and laughter to those who believe in Him and does no harm to any living being. There was King David who firmly believed in Him and prayed to fill his life with pleasure and joy. It is in the following line that King Solomon articulated his truth, which says “A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” It is up to a person how he/she handles despair and comes out victorious into a positive as well as cheerful mode. Laughter remains absent from the lives of so many people because they let negative circumstances to overshadow their happiness. So it is up to you to make sure that nothing steals your joy and you stand tall in the face of adversity.

There may be times when you feel low or sad. Whatever be the reason behind it, you should not reduce your quotient of happiness. So take some time out for your family and friends and do something constructive. Enjoy life to the fullest and indulge in healthy fun.

Thank You!

Laughter is the Best Medicine Speech – 4

Respected Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers and My Dear Fellow Students – Warm Greetings to one and all!

I, Akanksha Gaur from Standard VIII (B), am going to deliver a speech today on the topic called ‘Laughter is the Best Medicine’. There is a substantial reason behind choosing this topic and the reason is that I come across many sad faces around – whereas many are sad due to some misery and/or difficulties in life; some are sad out of no reason. I want to put it across to you all very loud and clear that we live only once and so let’s live it with happiness and the love of others. Just the way sadness is contagious, laughter is equally contagious too. What we give to others ultimately comes back to us. So why do we not only give doses of laughter and joy to others so that we can expect the same in return?

It is rightly said that laughter is the best medicine, but medicine here doesn’t literally mean medicine, but as something that has medicinal properties. It doesn’t heal your illness, but will make you forget your challenging conditions in life for some time and ease your mind. Laughter has the ability to give relaxation to your whole body and mind and put it at rest. You can of course bring down the stress level drastically and reenergize yourself. In other words, it boosts the level of your energy and enables you to become more focused in life with a drive of fresh vigor and enthusiasm.

But unfortunately, in the present world of today people have forgotten laughter and the real joy in togetherness. As almost everyone is running after money and status, there is hardly anytime with people to enjoy small moments in life and make the most of the passing moment. The best part is that laughter doesn’t have any adverse effects and it is contagious, i.e. it spreads around even before you realize it. Since it is for free, you can choose to laugh often and smile wide as you can derive its unlimited benefits, such as strengthening your immune system, bringing in a lot more positivity, boosting your creative energy as well as memory level and making your soul feel fresher and lighter.

Other than all these benefits, one major advantage is that it helps ward off diseases and acting as the best therapeutic technique to combat medical conditions. Study says that people who laugh often remain healthier and it is easier for them to get better faster when diagnosed with any chronic illness. In short, laughter is the best medicine which cannot be replaced by any other thing. So do not hesitate to laugh often no matter how tough the situation may become. If you can laugh out loud irrespective of any problem in life, you will be able to overcome any problem in life and solve it sooner or later. This is all I have to say!

Thank you so much for listening to me patiently.
