Good Morning everyone!! Respected teachers, Principal Sir, students, my batch mates and other staff members. My name is ___________, and I am a student of class _______.

Today, we have gathered here on a very special occasion, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It is special and also rare occasions when we celebrate two causes. Firstly, it is the birth of Sardar Patel, the iron man of India and secondly, we celebrate the integrity of India, as Sardar Patel had visualized.

As we all know that Sardar Patel was a freedom fighter who subsequently became independent India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. This in fact is only a small fraction of the man’s colossal persona.

The most talked about and admired works of Sardar Patel is his pursuance to the small kingdoms to concede with the dominion of India. He uncompromisingly wanted a united India; therefore, he tried tirelessly to convince princely states to accept Indian dominion. He even threatened them with military power if they displayed ignorance. It is purely because of his vision and ability that we breathe in a united India.

His Jayanti is therefore celebrated with unparallel zeal and enthusiasm, throughout the country. It is not only his birthday that we celebrate but also our unity, on the day. That is why it is also celebrated as National Unity Day. For those, who don’t know, I would like to add that, National Unity Day was instituted by the Government of India in 2014, to commemorate the efforts of Sardar Patel in making a united India.

His Jayanti is celebrated in schools/colleges and in offices. People/students assemble to pay floral tribute and remember Sardar Patel’s contribution in freedom struggle as well as in unification of India after independence.

I hope you all are aware that special events on Sardar Patel Jayanti are organized at the statue of Unity located in Kevadiya Gujarat. A series of events are organized at the statue of unity in which local population, tourists, and government officials and politicians take part.

Run for Unity is also organized in various locations throughout India, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel as well as the cultural and religious unity of the nation. The race is usually in the form of a marathon with participants from different walks of the society.

I would further like to add that the run for unity reminds us of Sardar Patel’s distinguished and uncompromising commitment to national unity. I thereby request you all to celebrate this Sardar Patel Jayanti with exceptional zeal and enthusiasm and also remember the man’s great efforts in keeping India free, progressive and united.
